As COVID-19 can linger on certain surfaces for days, scientists have been scrambling to create potent antiviral coatings. A spray developed by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) last April uses heat-sensitive polymers that release disinfectants on human contact and can offer protection for up to 90 days.
