As COVID-19 can linger on certain surfaces for days, scientists have been scrambling to create potent antiviral coatings. A spray developed by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) last April uses heat-sensitive polymers that release disinfectants on human contact and can offer protection for up to 90 days. Electric cars powered up by Finnish innovations HIGH TECHNOLOGY › SMART TECHNOLOGY The Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) and a group of Finnish businesses have developed new intelligent solutions for electric vehicles to enable a standardised charging infrastructure, remote booking of a charging station as well as an intelligent charging process. The intelligent solutions were developed within the European Internet of Energy project. The other Finnish participants, in addition to VTT, were Elektrobit Wireless Communications (EB), Empower IM and Emtele. We are living in a wonderful time for anyone who wants to create something. And I don’t mean to those who considers themselves part of the Makers movement, because today everyone can create amazing things, doesn’t matter what is your background and what skills you’ve got, if you like DIY projects than you know what I’m talking about… Take this guys for example, a company called Aesthetic Interactive, they actually mixed between Oculus-Rift and Leap-Motionto deliver a new kind of virtual-reality user-interface called Hovercast.
